The Operating Room Global (TORG) Magazine (TORG-MAG) is thrilled to announce our latest call for submissions! We invite passionate professionals within the operating room community to share their insights, research, and expertise.

Who Should Submit?

Are you a surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse, surgical technologist or other healthcare professional with unique perspectives or experiences in the operating room? TORG-MAG is your platform to contribute to the global conversation on surgical excellence. Whether you have innovative surgical techniques, patient stories, or insights into the latest technologies, your voice can help shape the future of perioperative care.

What Can You Submit?

We welcome submissions across various categories, including but not limited to:

  1. Medical Research Articles: Cutting-edge research and advancements in surgery, anesthesia, and operating room procedures.
  2. Clinical Case Studies: Detailed analyses of unique surgical cases, focusing on techniques and patient outcomes.
  3. Surgical Techniques and Procedures: Insights into best practices, tools, and emerging technologies.
  4. Healthcare Education: Educational content aimed at enhancing the skills of medical professionals.
  5. Patient Stories: Personal narratives or testimonials that highlight patient experiences.
  6. Interviews with Medical Experts: Conversations with leading professionals in the field.
  7. Medical Device Reviews: Evaluations of surgical equipment and technology.
  8. Safety Protocols and Guidelines: Articles on maintaining a safe operating room environment.
  9. Operating Room Management: Strategies for efficient management and resource allocation.
  10. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Discussions on the legal and ethical aspects of surgical care.
  11. Collaborative Research Projects: Updates on interdisciplinary research aimed at improving surgical practices.

Written Articles

  • Format: Submit articles in Microsoft Word format.
  • Cover Letter: Optional but welcomed. Include a short bio.
  • Originality: We prefer original work, though previously published work may be considered.
  • Language: Submissions must be in English. Authors not fluent in English should have their work professionally translated before submission.

We accept submissions across various disciplines and topics, such as Surgery, Anesthesiology, Perioperative Nursing, Surgical Technology and Medical Device Management. Proposed topics for the upcoming edition is below;

Innovative Surgical Practices

  1. The Role of Telemedicine in Expanding Access to Surgery Globally: Exploring how remote consultations, virtual surgery, and telemedicine can bridge the gap in surgical care, especially in underserved regions.
  2. Minimally Invasive Surgery: Innovations and Future Directions: A review of recent advancements in minimally invasive techniques and their impact on patient outcomes.

Technology and Innovation

  1. The Digital Operating Room: Chances and Risks of Artificial Intelligence: Examining the potential benefits and challenges of integrating AI into the operating room (previously suggested).
  2. Artificial Intelligence in Surgical Decision-Making: A deep dive into how AI is transforming preoperative planning, intraoperative guidance, and postoperative care.
  3. Experimental Analysis of Airborne Contaminant Distribution in an Operating Room with Different Ventilation Schemes: Investigating the impact of various ventilation systems on contamination levels in the OR (previously suggested).

Surgical Education and Training

  1. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in Surgical Training: How immersive technologies are revolutionizing the way surgeons are trained.
  2. Global Collaborations in Surgical Education: Bridging Knowledge Gaps: The importance of international partnerships in training the next generation of surgeons.

Global Health and Policy

  1. Addressing the Global Surgical Workforce Crisis: Strategies for Sustainable Solutions: Innovative approaches to training and retaining surgical professionals in low-resource settings.
  2. Equitable Access to Surgical Care: Policy Innovations for Global Health: Analyzing policies that aim to reduce disparities in surgical care access around the world.

Sustainability and Ethical Considerations

  1. Sustainable Surgery: Reducing the Environmental Impact of Operating Rooms: Investigating strategies to make surgical practices more eco-friendly.
  2. Ethical Considerations in the Adoption of New Surgical Technologies: Balancing innovation with patient safety and ethical standards.
  3. The Role of Global Surgery in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): How surgical innovation can contribute to broader global health goals.

All researches related to the theme are also welcome.

Submission Details

  • Length: Articles should be between 750 to 1,400 words. Longer submissions may be considered but should not exceed 7,000 words, including abstract and notes.
  • Abstract: Each article requires an abstract (max 100 words for articles and max 250 words for researches) summarizing the main points.
  • Citations: Use endnotes for citations, formatted according to the provided guidelines.
  • Formatting: Use 11-point Arial font, with left-hand margin justification and extra line space for paragraph breaks.
  • File Types: Acceptable formats include MS Word. PDF files are not accepted.
  • Illustrations: High-resolution images in .jpg or .png format are encouraged. Authors are responsible for securing permissions for any copyrighted material.

Submission Process

  • Send your article as an attachment to torg-mag@operatingroomissues.org with “Submission” as the subject line.
  • Include your name, article title, abstract, and any relevant author information in the email body.
  • Acknowledgment of receipt will be sent within 3 working days. We aim to respond to submission status within two months.

Copyright

  • Authors retain copyright of their published articles. TORG-MAG reserves the right to make minor copy-editing changes.
  • Authors must secure permission for any third-party copyrighted material before submission.
